Perfect Start Childcare Centre Director

Elizabeth Christie

Diploma in Childcare Services

I have been an early childhood educator and director for the past 22 years.

I became an Early Childhood Educator because I have a passion for working with young children and believe that quality early childhood education is paramount in developing a lifelong love of learning. I love advocating for our profession and always looking for ways to improve our centre and industry by working with likeminded professionals across our field.

One of the most critical time periods in child development and learning is from birth to five years. The first five years of child development is crucial to their health, wellbeing, and the overall trajectory of their lives in a variety of ways. We as educators are in a position to assist and guide children to help in their growth and development through fun engaging interactive experiences and interactions. I believe that by providing children of all ages with rich purposeful caregiving we are promoting frequent, individual and intentional interactions with children. We as Educators recognise that teachable moments can be any time of the day, and we are able to use routine times, such as meal times and nappy changing times, to have lots of individual interactions with children, all while using lots of rich language input. Each of our routines or experiences of the day should include care, emotion and learning.

By showing children that we have taken a genuine interest in what they are doing helps to nurture our relationship with them, whilst allowing you the opportunity to really get to know each child.

I love our Early education field and working at Perfect Start Mary street because we are a team, children and Educators, of mixed personalities that share our knowledge and skills with each other. We are curious and enthusiastic about learning and teaching and we accomplish all this through play.

Miss Sarah

Lead Educator- Kindergarten (deputy director)

Hi I’m Miss Sarah, I have worked in the Early Childhood Industry for 15 years in all aspects of the job starting as a float and also as a Director. My true calling is to educate and support children to develop and enjoy freedom in a play based curriculum where their voices lay the foundation for all aspects of learning.
Supporting children’s wellbeing and holistic development is something that I hold close to my heart and I like to ensure that our program offers opportunities both planned and spontaneous to support this development.
I respect that each child is an individual and enjoy the journey of reciprocal learning as we develop relationships with each child and their families. Creating honest, trusting respectful relationships with both children and families ensures that their journey with us is as beneficial as possible and this is my ultimate goal.
